Upcoming Trip: White Island
0I will be leading a trip to White Island in a couple of weekends with a crew from Global Dive.
The dates for the trip are Friday 11th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June 2010.
Diving White Island
White Island is some 50 kilometres off shore from Whakatane and lies 8km west of the White Island trench which reaches depths of up to 1219 metres. White Island is an active stratovolcano and is one of the most accessible volcanoes in the world.
This fascinating place is brushed by the warm waters of an offshore current and offers exciting dives from pinnacles with 150 metre drop offs to cruisy reef dives.
Underwater vents are a feature of this volcanic area.
Several archways and extinct fumaroles make the area most interesting.
There are places for 6 divers on this fabulous trip.
The trip cost is $825.00 for the 3 days.
There are still some spaces available on this trip – more information is available on the Global Dive website:

$150.00 is required to secure your space. Get in quick!
.. flashpackers .. diving Mozambique
1Chatting online to Nell tonight – we started talking about how its well and truly time for a tropical holiday. Yes definitely time for sunshine, warm sands, warm water and diving!!
Nell mentioned that she had been thinking of a dive trip to Mozambique and that she had some friends who had been – or had the skinny on dive operators.
We did some really quick research to have a look at the seasons and the recommended times to travel there.
Nell found this :

Diving is good all year round in Tofo or Zavora or onboard the liveaboard. The largest concentration of whalesharks and manta’s will be from october through april, but if you come in june or august, the whalesharks and manta’s will be there. Any day of the year can be a good diving day.
June through October is the annual Humpback Whale migration. Whale song is frequently heard on dives and Whale sightings from boats or from the shore are extremely common. During these winter months you can see Humpback Whales, Whalesharks and Manta rays.
Rainy season is from november to february, the summer months. the Humpback Whales have left, but the Manta’s and Whalesharks are here in large numbers.
Water temperatures vary from 20°C in july to 28°C in january. Weather conditions and water temperature may change during your stay and even during a diving day. The early morning dive may have different conditions than the late morning or afternoon dive.
So now we just need to work out what we want to see and when we both have the best time to do it!
Hell yes! International Women of Mayhem >> .. flashpackers ..: we’re back!!!.
