Kerian and his monofin slide into the deep

New Zealand Free Diver Kerian Hibbs appeared in The Dominion Post again today.

The Dom published an article by Simon Edwards in the Hutt local news section on Kerian and his intense focus and attitude to training that now sees him ranked seventh in the world.

Hibbs, 38, is ranked seventh in the world in constant weight no-fin freediving. Constant weight means whatever weights you wear to get you down quickly, you also have to bring back up with you.

He can hold his breath underwater for 6 1/2 minutes. He enjoys the “self-challenge” of pushing himself to do even better.

Kerian is heading to Japan later on this year to compete in the team Worlds with Guy Brew and William Trubridge.

Kerian has recently left his job to focus on free diving full time.
